European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) takes a step forward towards the future as the European Commission, the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (EURail), the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) jointly host an event that showcases the integration of European satellite technology into the rail sector.
Radiolabs has been invited to present the HELMET project, recently concluded with field tests for the automotive and rail operational scenarios. In his speech, Francesco Rispoli Director General of Radiolabs has underlined the benefits of harmonising the requirements of Rail, Automotive and Drone applications to get economy of scale and a faster time to market of GNSS Augmentation services with high integrity/accuracy for ERTMS, ATO, Connected Cars, Smart Roads and Drones for flying safely above railways.
Furthermore, he unveiled the superior performance of train positioning achieved with Galileo on the Cagliari-San Gavino railways of RFI and the flexibility of the HELMET architecture that combines EGNOS, Galileo and local networks to deliver services with incremental performance according to the needs.
